Christmas Tree Cupcakes with Buttercream Frosting

  1. 12 of your favorite chocolate cupcakes
  2. ¾ cup butter softened (1 ½ sticks)
  3. 3 cups icing sugar
  4. 3-5 tbsp milk
  5. Kelly green gel food coloring
  6. 1 cup white sprinkles poured into a bowl
  7. Candies of assorted colors these jumbo nonpareils are what I used
  8. Piping bags
  9. Wilton frosting tip #199


  1. Ensure that your cupcakes are cool before decorating.
  2. Start by making the buttercream: use an electric mixer and beat butter, icing sugar and milk on medium speed. Gradually increase speed to high and beat until completely smooth.
  3. Frost each cupcake with an offset spatula.
  4. Dip each frosted cupcake into bowl of sprinkles.
  5. Color the remainder of your buttercream with Kelly green gel food coloring.
  6. Using Wilton frosting tip #199, pipe out a tree-like figure on each cupcake.
  7. Decorate with assorted-colored candies and use a yellow one on top.
  8. Enjoy and happy holidays!
