Raised Donut Recipe with Glaze



Ingredients:
  1. 2 packages of active dry yeast
  2. 1/2 cup white sugar
  3. 1/2 cup shortening (I use Crisco)
  4. 2 eggs
  5. 1 cup scalded milk (if don't know how to make this, look here)
  6. 1 cup warm water
  7. 1 teaspoon salt
  8. 6 cups all purpose flour


Easy Lemon Truffle

Directions:
  1. In a bowl with a spoon, mix yeast and warm water, and set aside
  2. In a large bowl, mix sugar, salt and shortening (I use a stand mixer)
  3. Add milk and allow to cool to room temperature
  4. Beat eggs in another bowl with a whisk, and add to cooled mixture
  5. Add yeast and water mixture
  6. Add flour a bit at a time until you have a ball of dough (I use the paddle attachment)
  7. Set dough in an oiled mixing bowl and allow to rise until it has doubled in size
  8. Flour a board or you counter and place the dough on it.
  9. Roll the dough to a 1/2 inch thickness and cut with a cookie cutter or mason jar lid
  10. Cut the hole (my mom used a thimble)
  11. Let donuts rise again, for 30 minutes
  12. Heat one inch of oil and fry donuts until both sides are golden brown.

Sugar Glaze
Ingredients:
  1. 3 cups of sugar
  2. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  3. 3/4 cup of milk
  4. 1/2 stick (4 tablespoons) of butter


Chocolate Chip & English Toffee Cookie Bars


Directions:

In a sauce pan mix all ingredients and then heat until sugar dribbled into cold water forms a ball.
Pour into a bowl and dip donuts
